Big-brother GPS app for Android

What is it?

This little application for Google Android phones constantly monitors your GPS (or using the network if you disabled your GPS) and sends the information where you are to a server.
Then, you (or others) can see where you were using Google Maps.

Try it

Go here to register an account and/or see where others were.
After that, download the client below and track your paths!

Software

Client (for on your phone)

Download: gpstest.apk (or sourcecode)
After installing and starting it, press menu, go to setup and enter your login details. In case you're running your own server, change the server hostname as well.

Server application

This Java application should run on a server with internet connectivity so that an Android phone running 'gpstest' can transmit where you were.
You can also connect to 'keetweej' to send your data, which is the default - don't forget then to register an account and configure it in gpstest!
Download: GTServer.java
  • You need to create a database first (click here for details)
  • Put the database parameters in GTServer.java
  • Compile with 'javac GTServer.jara', run with 'java GTServer'
