With measurenoise one can determine how much noise it produces while capturing
frames from a video4linux device. This value can be used with, for example,
motion.
Originally this tool used the colorconversion library by smcc but as it is no longer available from that site, I've included it in this release.
Changes
0.4 images with high contrast might gave incorrect values, fixed 0.3 optimized for speed, made a couple of parameters configurable 0.2 included the colorconversion library in the tarball 0.1 initial release

Before measuring the noise of the device, you might need to tune and set it up. That can be done with for example the following tools:
dov4l Compatible with: all video4linux compatible devices Can set: tunersettings, brightness, contrast, etc.
setpwc Compatible with: Philips-, some Logitech webcams, ... Can set: framerate, shutterspeed, colorbalance, etc.
setov511 Compatible with: Creative, OmniVision, Trust, ... Can set: band filter, light frequency, etc.
